Uni Application Essay

This is a multiphase consulting project. In the first phase, we will go over your topic choices and advise on content. Once you have a written draft, we will provide helpful feedback on both the content and the structure. Once you are happy with the way the essay flows, we will go over it again, giving it a thorough proofreading to ensure the English is polished before sending it back to you to be submitted to your university of choice.


Video Call

We recommend using Zoom for your session. It is free to download and works on all phones, tablets, and computers. What sets it apart is that it has a feature that allows you to record your meetings. We highly recommend doing this, as it will allow you to rewatch the meeting whenever you want and get even more use out of your investment. 
Another benefit of Zoom is that you can use the same link for every session, starting from the first. This makes things easier for everyone involved. Also, the ability to share screens and edit on each other’s screens makes Zoom a blessing in tutoring sessions like these.

Cancellation Policy

If you decide to cancel the project for any reason, you will be able to get a partial refund. The size of the refund will depend on how far along we are in the project, but the maximum will be 50%.

If you need to cancel a session, please let us know as soon as possible so we can reschedule it.

Essay Prompts

Content and Flow

Step 1: Start

Read all the rest of these steps before clicking on the ‘Apply Here’ link below. That way you’ll know what to expect and the limits of the project. 

Step 2: Apply

The link will take you to a form that you’ll fill out with some mildly personal information – name, email, which service you want, and some details about the project you are undertaking. You’ll press the send button and, if the cyber gods are kind, that information will find its way to us. 

Step 3: First Contact

We will send you an email with a polite greeting, a copy of all the steps to complete our end of your project, and an invitation to a quick video call. This email will also include a short list of questions that your tutor will be asking during the trial meeting just to get a feel for what you want and need when it comes to the project. These questions are just for you to think about so that you have the answers ready when they come up in the video call.

Step 4: Trial Meeting

In this quick (approximately 15~20 minute) meeting, you will discuss the project with your tutor –  which universities you are applying to, which topic you are planning on writing your essay on, how long of an essay you are planning on writing, that sort of thing. 

This meeting is also intended for you and your tutor to get to know each other a little, to see if you can work together. If you have questions about them or their role in the project, feel free to ask them during this meeting.

Step 5: Upfront Payment

If step four goes well and we each agree to work together, we’ll send you an invoice for the service which you will need to pay before we are able to move forward with our part of the project.

Please note that for rush jobs, there is a premium, so try to get your application in as early as you can.

Step 6: Writing the Essay

Once I have confirmation that payment has been made, I will send you an email to confirm your progress on the essay. This email will also contain a link you can use to set up the next video conference. 

During this phase, you are free to email me as often as you need for answers or advice. 

Don’t stress too much about the quality of the essay at this point. What is important is that you get all your basic ideas down. Once that is done, we can move on to the next phase where we begin the process of fitting those ideas into the essay structure.

Step 7: Feedback and Editing

We will go over the essay together doing a high-level editing pass. During this phase, the essay will undergo further development as we work together to smooth out the flow and ensure that the content, structure, writing style, and English expressions in the essay are all correct.

Step 7 usually takes several 60~90 minute consultations to ensure all the necessary information is included and you are satisfied with the essay’s flow and form.

Step 8: Final Polish.

Once you are happy with the length, content, and flow of the essay, we will give it its final polish. This entails a proofreader going over the final draft to make sure no spelling or grammatical errors have crept in and that it is, in fact, ready for you to send out. 

Once this polishing pass is complete, the essay will be sent back to you, along with our best wishes. The essay will be in a zip file in several file formats to make sending it out easier for you. And that will conclude our involvement in the project.
